Artist Description:
"Tala, Goddess of the Stars" is a Tagalog deity who is known to be the sister of Hanan, Goddess of the Morning and Mayari, Goddess of the moon. There wasn't much information about her when I researched more of her story, so for this piece I relied mostly In my personal experience working with her.
Her energy is very patient and calm, and I like to use her as a guide, in the same sense as how our ancestors used constellations to inform them of their farming and harvesting schedule, along with using the constellations to point to certain directions when they traveled at night. I included constellations of each Zodiac sign in this illustration as a "modern day" symbol of guidance. I have a personal fascination with astrology, and have used the guidance of the planets, transits, asteroids, and houses that inform me on how to navigate challenges or take advantage of opportunities that are found within my chart.
