Hi, my name is Alex Cabal.

I am the artist behind Acaballz. I created that name in high school to combine my first and last name. It started off as a joke, but as I got older I decided to keep the name as a reminder of my drive and free spirit, especially as an artist.  I am an Aries Sun and Sagittarius Moon after all! 

As a Morena (brown-skinned) Filipino, I grew up with a narrow perspective of beauty, and set to heal my insecurities through my art. My illustrations highlight the beauty of darker skin tones, where I use bright, bold colors to make the brown skin of my characters stand out. As I continued to grow and heal, my art then shifted to focus on exploring the complex histories, mythologies, and diverse cultures of the Philippines. I'm also inspired by my own spiritual perspectives and experiences, and set to create it in my work. Through my art, I want the viewer to feel empowered, to feel "seen," or to appreciate beauty in all its different forms.
