Illustrating her interacting with Apolaki (God of war and the sun) is intended to show that sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is soften your defenses, embrace the present moment, and allow yourself to have fun.

Folklore:

The Sirenas are water spirits in Filipino folklore that are human from the top half their body and have a fish tail from the waist down. They have many names based on different regions of the Philippines, such as Magindara (Bikolano), Kataw (Visayan), Mambubuno (Visayan). Their stories also vary, and are either known to be benevolent creatures to offer protection for fishermen or are malevolent spirits who drown or kidnap their victims.
