Artist Description:
"Mushroom" is a piece inspired by the phrase "tabi tabi po," which in Tagalog means "excuse me" as a polite way to let the unseen spirits know you are entering their space. My mom has told me so many stories about the dwende and other trickster spirits that have messed with her, and she told me that the way to appease them is by offering sweet rice cakes (kakanin).
In this piece, I wanted it to be a more cozy, autumn setting, so I drew the character with her cat. Ant hills are some of the dwelling places these land spirits live in, so drawing the kakanin next to it is a way for the character to remain undisturbed while being in their space. The cat, like most animals, probably sees them and wants to play.

All prints are carefully packaged with backing board and shipped with rigid mailers. All other items are packaged with care using transparent poly bags and shipped with poly mailers. I aim to only produce high quality products. All sales are final. The only exceptions are made for those who receive damaged or incorrect items. Buyer must be responsible for return shipping expenses.
