Folklore:

The Sirenas are water spirits in Filipino folklore that are human from the top half their body and have a fish tail from the waist down. They have many names based on different regions of the Philippines, such as Magindara (Bikolano), Kataw (Visayan), Mambubuno (Visayan). Their stories also vary, and are either known to be benevolent creatures to offer protection for fishermen or are malevolent spirits who drown or kidnap their victims.
