Artist Description:

"Albularyo" was created during a time I was still reconnecting to my roots as a Filipino. I knew of them as a child based off of the stories my Lola would share, and one actually had to heal my uncle who was cursed. For this piece, I wanted to do a "modern day" version, not realizing that I would someday meet some albularyos/katalonans in my present life. Reflecting back, this piece has become a manifestation come true, because I wanted to surround myself with other people who are continuing the spiritual Filipino practices that I now have had the honor of witnessing. 

I would not consider myself a healer even though I've had the opportunity to learn. I love being an artist too much to dedicate my life to this work. But it's awesome to be surrounded by people I can learn from!
