Naguinid, Goddess of War and Poisons

Artist Description:

"Naguinid, Goddess of War and Poisons" is based on my own personal interpretation and experience with this Visayan war deity. Historical records (aka documents written by the colonizers) are so vague that this deity also doesn't have a gender, but I personally refer to her as a goddess when I channel her. 

I painted her portrait in September of 2025 during the year of the Snake, where so much shedding, healing, and protection was taking place in my life. I believe she has been guiding me in my transformation, as well as offering me ways to protect myself spiritually.

Although I am currently not in physical wars like my ancestors, I believe the spiritual warfare has continued and has only gotten worse. She has been teaching me how to protect myself when faced with chaotic situations and strategize to safely avoid dangerous encounters with people who are agents of chaos. This includes harassment and rude comments/messages I receive on the Internet. 

It is now September 2026, a year later since I painted her. She has given me permission to share her portrait to those who are ready to reconnect with her and accept her guidance.

May Naguinid offer you success and protection whenever you are about to enter a journey in uncharted territory.
