The first time I had sans rival was at a Filipino food festival, and I had one made with pistachios. It didn't particularly grow up with this dish, so it was nice to try something new.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI researched more about it and they're typically made with cashews. This is because sans rival was inspired by French pastries like \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003edacquoise, and because almonds or hazelnuts weren't readily available in the Philippines, we used cashews.
