This was the explanation for the eclipses in ancient Visayan culture. In some Indigenous beliefs, the Bakunawa was not seen as a monster but rather their creator. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn this piece, I wanted to to do my own interpretation of the dragon and personify it. I also loved Beatrice Luigi Gomez's Bakunawa costume for Miss Universe 2021, and drew inspiration from that for the vibe of this piece.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMy depiction is meant to empower those who are ready for massive change, and is a reminder for those who want to be able to grow and withstand the transformation the Bakunawa will put you through. The Bakunawa's lessons are not meant to be easy.
